Semrush is one of my favorite keyword research tool. I want to make just a brief introduction on what is Semrush and why is my favorite, I don’t want you to sell this service or something like this. You know why? Because if you don’t use it is better for me and for other big ppc and seo marketers around the net. So here we go:

When you first go to SemRush and login you have the first option to search for domain, keyword or a URL:

As you can see they provide many countries database: US, UK, France, Russia, Germany and Spanish. Usually, I am interested with US database but is interesting if you check other countries database specially spanish & UK.

If you decide to put the domain name in the search box you will have different features:

• Organic keywords: Organic search result that this domain is ranking.
• Adwords Keywords: The Adwords keywords that this domain name is using in case they are promoting via Google Adwords.
• Competitors in organic search: Competitors websites in the organic search.
• Competitors in AdWords: Competitors in adwords for that domain name.
• Unique Adwords Ads overview: You can even see the Adwords ads that this site is using in their Adwords campaigns.
• Potential ads/traffic buyers: This feature is very interesting for me, if you are a blogger and want to sell advertising you can see potential websites “may be” are interested in buying some advertising ads in your blog or site.

Now if you use “Keywords” in the search box, you can add any type of keywords. In this example I put the keyword Make Money Online and you will see how amazing this keyword research tool is:

Keyword Summary

Here you can see different type of summary:

CPC: How much it cost (avarage) per click this keyword.
Competition: How competitive is the keyword, the higher the number is more competitive.
Average vol.: Avarage traffic volume in this case it reveals 222.6 k. I don’t believe that number but I will know when I rank this site with this keyword.
Trend: The trend for that keyword.

Also in this section you will see other types of results: Phrase match report, Related keywords report, Organic Results and AdWords Side.

This feature is the same like when you search with domain names. But you can check here certain part of a website.
